Så Skall Hat och Avund Smältas (2023)
Åkervinda’s third album ‘Så Skall Hat och Avund Smältas’ (This is how hate and envy will melt away) is once more full of traditional folktunes from the Nordic countries sung in original vocal arrangements by the group members themselves. The album has both lightness and darkness, joy and sorrow, humor and seriousness, gravity and dansable passages… as we find it in the tune ‘Uti Vår Hage’ (In our garden) with it’s dark mysticism, ‘Allt vad vi på jorden äge’ (All we have on this earth) with it’s meditative contemplation and the danish tune ‘Jeg gik mig ud en sommerdag’ (I went out one summer day) as a mirror of all the chaos in our world. As a remedy for all the heavy issues in the world the tune ‘Jag står upp en morgon’ (I got up one morning) is sung as a spell/incantation with the message This is how hate and envy will melt away, like the salt melts in the fresh water.
Jag Står Upp en Morgon (2023)
The lyrics are the words of the old incantation, seeking to let go of bad thoughts and darkness within. It ends with all voices singing together the words “Hate and envy will melt from me today, like salt melts in the freshwater”. The strong message combined with the sound of the voices in the song is the perfect pick me up if you're having a bad day, or a great boost if you need to recharge your batteries and find your inner strength. Grounding, empowering and comforting at the same time.
Uti Vår Hage (2023)
Uti vår hage is Åkervindas second single and part of the upcoming album “Så Skall Hat och Avund Smältas”. It begins with four soothing voices singing softly in spooky harmonies. Beautiful, yet with a hint of wickedness. Åkervindas modern interpretation of the popular Swedish folk song Uti Vår Hage is full of dark chords and juicy harmonies that intertwine with one another and capture the mystery of the story within this very old tune. Is the song just about picking flowers for your loved one or does it have a deeper meaning? Perhaps the herbs are the ingredients of a certain… remedy.
Blågeta (2023)
This old Swedish traditional folk song tells the story of a little goat who wants to go up on the big mountain, despite all warnings of the wolf. He is convinced that his horns will save him, so off he goes. Unfortunately, the wolf ends up eating all of him. Next thing you hear is the ancient sound of a herd calling, kulning, from a single voice. It is soon joined by more voices, all asking if anyone has seen their goat and then the song smoothly transitions into a rhythmic polska. The song Blågeta is sung powerful, groovy, ethereal and with a sense of humor, in close and precise harmonies by the voices of the four women in Åkervinda. The arrangement of Blågeta is completely á cappella and made by Åkervinda. It contains the songs Killegeten and Orepolska.
Nu är det gott att leva (2020)
This beautiful song by Olle Adolphson was brought back to life at Allsång på Skansen in 2019 where Åkervinda was asked to perform it together with the audience. Later, Åkervinda was so fond of the song that they decided to make their own arrangement and record it. The single features guest musician Villads Hoffmann on cittern and with beautiful artwork and stop-motion video made by the danish illustrator Marie Priem.
